Volunteering for the Wheels to Meals Wednesday Luncheon
|
Volunteering is an excellent way to meet new and interesting people while helping others.

Volunteering in the Friendly Visiting Program
|
Requirements:
- A desire to befriend one special person
- A willingness to learn and try new things
- A listening ear, a sense of humour, imagination, tact and empathy
- A desire to accept your new friend as they are, and to respect his/her confidence
- Time – whatever amount & whenever you can give it
|
Support and Training:
- Volunteers should be supported and trained in the art of visiting (and it is an art)
- You will have regular contact with the Program Coordinator
- Training and information sessions will be held on a wide range of topics of interest to you
- You will have an in-depth interview when you volunteer and you will receive an orientation Manual
- There will be opportunities to meet with your fellow volunteers to talk about mutual concerns
- All of our volunteers and the people they visit are matched prior to the initial contact, and the success of those matches are evaluated on an on-going basis
